Service Hours

Each Saint Mary School family is required to complete 40 hours of service.  Up to 20 hours may be ministry performed at the church.  Five of the 40 hours must be completed in the school cafeteria from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm (one-day commitment).  If parents cannot or do not wish to complete the service hours they may opt to pay a monetary fee of $10.00 per hour of service (example: 40 hours x $10 p/h = $400).

All hours must be recorded and submitted to the school office.  Additional service hour opportunities include:

  • Coaching a sports team

  • Moderating a club

  • Serving on the PTO or as a room parent

  • Volunteering in the classroom

  • Volunteering during the elective fundraisers organized by the PTO

  • Chaperoning during field trips

  • Volunteering during beautification days at the school

The school will inform parents regularly of service hour opportunities. Parents may contact the school office or their child's teacher with questions regarding the completion of services hours.
