grandparents day

On Friday, September 11, 2026, Saint Mary School invites our students' grandparents to attend Mass with our school community. This is a special time to recognize the love and support that grandparents provide and to thank them for all they have done and continue to do. Grandparents are invited to attend a light reception after Mass.

This year, our Grandparents Celebration will look a little different. Rather than checking their grandchildren out of class, grandparents are invited to join us for Mass, and they will have the opportunity to sit behind their grandchild’s class during the celebration.

Following Mass, all grandparents are warmly invited to join us in the Parish Hall for a small ceremony as we recognize and celebrate the important role grandparents play in the lives of our students and families.

We understand that some grandparents may live far away, may be unable to attend, or may no longer be with us. Students are welcome to bring a picture of their grandparent(s) so they can still be included and honored during this special celebration.

Please see the flyer below for more detailed information.

We look forward to welcoming our Saint Mary School grandparents and sharing this beautiful morning of faith, family, and gratitude. Please join us in praying a portion of Pope Benedict's special prayer for all grandparents:

Lord Jesus, help families and society to value the presence and role of grandparents. May they never be ignored or excluded, but always encounter respect and love. Help them to live serenely and to feel welcomed in all the years of life which you give them. Mary, Mother of all the living, keep grandparents constantly in your care, accompany them on their earthly pilgrimage, and by your prayers, grant that all families may one day be reunited in our heavenly homeland, where you await all humanity for the great embrace of life without end. Amen!
